Kelly A. Berkell, J.D., is the Executive Director of the Center on American Law and Extremism (CALE). She is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Center on Terrorism, John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY), and an adjunct professor in John Jay's Criminal Justice Masters Program. She has developed guidance on legal and compliance considerations, under federal and state law, for practitioners working to prevent targeted violence. Her research on the intersection of the U.S. criminal justice system with the prevention of extremist violence has been published in various outlets, including the Harvard National Security Journal and the Journal for Deradicalization.
